Volvo and Polestar have formed the perfect relationship. Volvo is widely known for its revolutionary achievements in safety and Polestar wanted to take that safe, reliable car and make it more responsive to the driver. Volvos have power, speed and traction control already, which gave Polestar a solid foundation to work from.

Polestar is something totally exclusive to Volvo cars. They have been optimizing Volvo cars for racing circuits and competitions since 1996, but now that technology is being put in the hands of the consumer. The horsepower and torque-adding accessory is available in models as old as 2006. All products are developed and tested by Polestar's drivers and engineers, along with Volvo specialists themselves.

This tune-up now gives the S60 T6 AWD and the XC60 T6 all-wheel drive the capability of going from 0 mph to 60 mph in .3 seconds less time. Horsepower is increased by up to 30HP and torque by up to 59lbs/ft. All of this is done while the vehicle manages to retain the same drivability and fuel consumption rating that it had originally. It works by enhancing the boost pressure and re-working the computer mapping. The power output is geared towards the mid-section of the engine, where the vehicle needs it most.

The Polestar edition vehicles greatly exceeded expectations for customer demand so much so that the S60 and V60 Polestar edition vehicles will get a renewed production of 750 vehicles this year (2015). The vehicles will be expanding to thirteen different countries, including those in the Middle East; an area that is showing strong interest. Countries who will be receiving the model year 2016 Polestar edition vehicles will include Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The new 2016 Polestar edition S60s and V60s will have a more rigid chassis, catering nicely to the 80% stiffer springs relative to the S60 R-Design. The new vehicles will feature Ohlins shock absorbers and 20" Polestar wheels. The brakes too have been modified. The most noticeable features now being the 371mm ventilated front discs and Brembo calipers.

Aerodynamics on the 2016 edition Polestar vehicles are noticeably different looking at the front splitters which work to optimize the air flow beneath the car. The new rear spoiler and diffusor increase the downforce substantially. The 6 cylinder turbo charged T6 engine has a new twin scroll turbo and intercooler, producing 345HP at 5250RPM and 369 lbs/ft of torque. The stainless steel exhaust system gives these vehicles a gruff sound.

The 6 speed automatic gearbox and the new paddle shift system, along with the four-wheel drive, takes the car from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds to a top speed of 155mph. The interior of course has beautiful new details, new materials in Polestar colors. You'll find the vehicle totally decked out, starting with the steering wheel, the seats, and much more. Though it is easy on the eyes, it also increases driver support and control.
