Volvo is expanding their lineup this year with the 2019 Volvo XC40, a small luxury crossover. Not only does it start with a lower MSRP than, say, the 2018 BMW X1, but it also has some outstanding features that will make you ask yourself why you'd pay more than you have to for a luxury vehicle in the Tilton area.

Classy Cabin Features

Some of the premium features that both the XC40 and X1 have in common are the standard seating for five, power liftgate, driver memory settings, keyless entry and start, and quality materials. Now, unlike the BMW X1, only the XC40 has the following come standard:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Ambient cabin lighting
  • SiriusXM® satellite radio
  • Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™
  • Driver assistance features like forward collision warning and lane departure warning
  • Portable Wi-Fi hotspot

Performance Capabilities

A standard turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine powers both models, but the BMW X1 only receives 228 hp while the XC40 receives 248 hp. Other highlights on the XC40 include:

  • 8-speed automatic transmission
  • Quarter-mile time of 14.8 seconds at 95 mph (a tenth of a second faster than the X1)
  • Dynamic driving mode for a more exciting ride
