The 2014 Volvo S60 vs. the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

• The base model Volvo gets a turbocharged five-cylinder 2.5L engine good for 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. That bests the base 1.8L four-cylinder in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which only produces 201 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque.
 
• Despite the power advantage in the base model, the Volvo is rated at an impressive 30 mpg highway and 21 mpg city. The C-Class is rated at 31 mpg highway and 22 mpg city, but requires premium fuel, while the Volvo takes regular. Your fuel cost will actually be higher with the C-Class.
 
• If you opt for the T6 version of the Volvo, you get a 3.0L turbocharged inline 6-cylinder good for 325 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. The comparably equipped Mercedes-Benz C350 only offers 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Whether you want performance, fuel economy, or both, there are still many advantages to choosing the Volvo S60.
