When it comes to Volvo, you can always expect the unexpected. Most recently that adage applies to the automaker's advancements in low fuel consumption drive technology. Up until now, in order to attain better fuel economy drivers had to use manual transmissions. That unspoken rule didn't bode well with the motivated automaker that felt that eco-conscious consumers should be given the choice of automatic as well. So, Volvo engineers set out to shake things up.
